Abstract

In this paper I argue that the bad lot objection only manages to refute poorly formulated versions of Inference to the Best Explanation. A version of Inference to the Best Explanation in then formulated that is unrefuted by bad lot cases. A consequence that is pointed out is that this provides a way of detaching debates about realism and antirealism in science from questions about whether we should or should not accept Inference to the Best Explanation.
