Abstract
For whom should philosophers of science be writing? I consider the aims of philosophy of science in light of the historical development of the subject. Comparing my approach with that of Arthur Fine, I argue for the importance of philosophy of science for philosophy, for individual sciences, and especially for social policy and public discussions.
