Abstract
The principles of special and general relativity are used to describe the relative motion of observers in terms of the coordinate transformations between the rest frames associated with each observer. It is demonstrated that a consistent application of these principles requires one to ascribe to each observer an associated wave amplitude which governs the probability events within one frame may be observed in another, leading the quantisation of energy levels under appropriate conditions.
